Information we use
This version supports account sign-in and a private Library. The Snail Trip Chrome extension saves pages to your Library and runs trips. The public leaderboard and reminders are still being completed. Saved pages sync through your account; journey settings and highlights currently stay in this browser.
| Information | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Account | Your sign-in identifier, email and name from Google or your email sign-in link identify your account. |
| Leaderboard name | You choose a display name during setup. It is stored in this browser. The public leaderboard is not available yet. |
| Starting point | You can choose a starting point during setup. Your browser shares your location only if you allow it; otherwise you can choose a place manually. The selected point is rounded and stored in this browser. |
| Saved items | When you choose Save in the connected extension, the page URL, title, author, extracted article text or media URL and topic are stored in your private Supabase Library. Reading progress can be stored with the item. Highlights currently stay in this browser. Requests for transcripts include the content identifier. |
| Trips | Starting a trip requires the Snail Trip Chrome extension. For each trip our server stores which saved items it includes, its length, your starting point rounded to about 1 km with its city and country, the learning seconds counted, and when and why it ended, so your kilometres count on any device. Map settings, stamps and highlights stay in this browser. |
| Reminders | Trip reminders are not available in this version. Sign-in emails are sent only when you request a sign-in link. |
| Extension | If you install the Snail Trip extension, it reads the page you choose to save. It keeps a separate account connection token on your device; the server stores only its hash, with a 90-day expiry and revocation support. When you install it, Chrome asks you to let it read and change data on the websites you visit. It uses that access for two things: during a trip, it checks your open tabs and redirects YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit and X to a Snail Trip page until the trip ends; and it loads public YouTube channel feeds when you ask Snail Trip to show them. Open-tab information stays in the extension and is not sent to our server. |
| Leaderboard | The public leaderboard is not available in this version. Your name and journey are not currently published on it. |
| Payments | Your first trip is free. Subscriptions are sold by Paddle, our online reseller, which collects your email, payment details and billing country at checkout and handles tax and invoices. We send Paddle your account identifier so the subscription is linked to your account. Paddle sends us back your subscription status, its identifiers, price and renewal or end dates, so we know whether you can start new trips. We never see or store your full card number. |
| Steps you reach | To see where people get stuck, we record which steps of Snail Trip you reach, such as signing in, each setup step, opening the reading list, locking in, seeing the subscription page and opening checkout, and how long the page stays open. Each record holds the step, one number such as the setup step or seconds, phone or desktop, and a random visit code that is not stored on your device. When you’re signed in, it’s linked to your account. It never includes your email, name, location or what you save. |
| Waitlist | If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address to confirm you joined and to tell you when Snail Trip is on the Chrome Web Store. We don’t use it for anything else. Ask us and we delete it. |
| Website visits | This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views, the site you came from, and your country, browser and device type. It doesn’t use cookies. |
| Cookies | Snail Trip uses only the cookies and browser storage it needs to keep you signed in and keep a trip running. It doesn’t use advertising cookies. |
Services we use
Snail Trip uses Supabase for account sign-in, your private saved Library and extension connections, Resend to deliver sign-in, account and waitlist emails, and Cloudflare to serve this website and count visits. Supabase also stores the waitlist. Supabase also stores the step records described above. Journey settings and highlights currently use browser storage. Paddle sells subscriptions and handles payment, tax and invoices. Videos and podcasts play from the sites that host them, such as YouTube, which receive normal network request information. These services receive only the information they need to do their job.
Some of them process information outside your country, including in the United States, under contractual safeguards. We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Your rights
Trần Trúc Quân is the controller of this information. We use it to provide the service you ask for, keep it secure and fair, meet legal duties such as tax records, and, where the law allows, to understand and improve Snail Trip. Where we rely on your consent, such as location, you can withdraw it at any time.
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your information, object to or limit how we use it, and complain to your local data protection authority. Write to support@gommie.page and we will reply within one month.
Keeping & deleting data
Your Snail Trip account is separate from the Gommie iPhone app. Account information is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account in Settings: this deletes your sign-in, Library, trips, extension connections and step records right away, cancels your subscription and sends you an email to confirm. In-app export is not available yet; contact support@gommie.page to request a copy of your data. Clearing this site’s browser storage removes local journey data and highlights from that browser, but does not delete your account or saved cloud Library. Signing out does not erase that local data. Step records are deleted 14 months after they are made, or when your account is deleted. Waitlist emails are deleted once you ask, or once we no longer need to tell you about the launch. Paddle keeps order records as required for tax and accounting under its own privacy notice.
